Review of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) by Louise S — 16 Apr 2009
I love musicals and I love older movies, but I was never all that interested in this one. I didn't really care for the time period it was set in, but I'm glad I watched it. It is directed by the same guy who directed Singin' in the Rain, which is a classic and this one is among one of the greats that I have seen. Although there isn't any big name stars like Marlon Brando, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Donald O'Conner, and others the actors that were chosen for these roles were the perfect people. It is definitely a great movie.
"There were no F names in the Bible so Ma named him Frankincense because he smelled so sweet.".
"Snowballs with rocks in them! Them poor little dears! Sobbin' buckets o' tears!".
"Somehow it just don't seem fitting for a man to spend his wedding night in a tree.".
