Review of Seven Beauties (1975) by Richard C — 28 Nov 2010
A man kills and chops up a pimp that was pushing his sister into prostitution and then finds himself a P.O.W. during World War II. Individually, the two elements present in this film, a character study/P.
O.W. drama and a broadly funny black comedy work well on their own. It's the shifting and combination of them that don't always work. However, Giancarlo Gianini's performance holds the entire film together and pretty much sells it with both the comedy and the drama.
