Review of Set It Up (2018) by Lola R — 08 Jul 2018
I was in the mood for something cute for a cozy night in, and I have to say I couldn't have chosen a better movie. "Set It Up" is a classic rom-com in all the best ways, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do.
It made me laugh and cry and it left me with a smile and a fuzzy, warm feeling inside. The acting - and the chemistry between the two leads - are superb, and the movie manages to make you fall in love with all its characters, even the most secondary ones.
Harper (Zoey Deutch) is quirky, but not weird, Charlie (Glen Powell) is awkward but not so much that it's cringeworthy, and Kirsten (Lucy Liu) is more than the stereotypical mean boss. All the characters are so well rounded that it's impossible not to care about them, and that's the true strength of this movie.
It may not be original, or a memorable masterpiece, but I know I will definitely come back to it when I feel like watching a truly heart-warming comedy that will make me fall in love with the idea of love itself.
