Kinda weird. mildly scary. could have been a lot better, but in its defense, this was prior to those horror films that really pushed the envelope like Ju-On (2003) [yes I know the Ju-On series goes back as far as 1998, but they do get creepier and more disturbing in later years].
many of the American horror films take their cues from movies like Ju-On and often take it to the extreme to the point that we can't suspend disbelief (which is essential to enjoying a film).
