Review of Session 9 (2001) by James K — 23 Dec 2010
"Session 9" was Brad Anderson's directorial effort before "The Machinist," and it is one of the best horror movies I have seen. It's a shame not more films like it have been made since its release, as it is well directed and far less gruesome than the extreme horror our generation has been used to.
In fact, it hardly has any gore at all - it's overwhelmingly creepy atmosphere scared the crap out of me and that's easily enough of a reason to love it. I recommend watching it alone, in the dark, with no distractions, and the volume turned way up.
It's disappointing that I rarely find myself making such a recommendation...
