Review of Session 9 (2001) by John C — 19 Aug 2010
I decided to watch Session 9 on a lazy afternoon at home on VOD when I had nothing else to do, and I'm very glad I did.
This movie focuses more on the chills side instead of your typical blood and gore, which I found very refreshing. You won't even see the first real trace of blood until maybe 20 minutes from the end, which despite how it sounds, is actually a good thing.
The story focuses around an abandoned mental hospital having some work done to it for renovations, the removal of asbestos and hazardous material type of stuff. With the entire movie focusing mostly on a crew of five workers, a lot of the chills follows one worker who finds audio recordings of sessions of a lady with multiple personality who was a patient there.
My only real issue with the film was that right at the end, when all was being revealed, I was still somewhat confused. Apparently a few tidbits from very early in the film I just missed and so some of it did not click for me right away. Beyond that, a very decent film.
