Review of Serpico (1973) by Robert B — 30 Jun 2009
This is truly one of Al Pacino's finest performances. For me it ranks right up there with Scarface and Carlito's Way. He plays the a cop who is by the books and upholds the law to a fault. However, he is confronted with a corrupt department and that is an early example of a favorite plot in the crime genre.
Pacino really owns this role and uses his raw emotion and power to give the role what it needed. This is a classic movie that introduces us to a classic character in Serpico.
