Review of Serpico (1973) by Zachary Y — 04 Jun 2014
Serpico doesn't quite hit the mark Dog Day afternoon had, Lumet is much less stylistic and visually intriguing here and the script spends much time showing corruption but failing to expose it or cause any real peak of dramatic intensity.
The film is a roller coaster ride, serving up many sharp turns and small hills, but the big thrill just never quite hapens.
