Review of Serpico (1973) by Ville I — 09 Feb 2009
Pacino made a bunch of awesome films during the 70s, and this "honest-cop-in-a-den-of corruption" piece is one of them. Contrary to a zillion modern police movies, Pacino and Lumet make Serpico feel much more vibrant and alive (then again, it's a true story) and the gritty 70s NYC has never been this great (except in Manhattan.
..and the Warriors...and Taxi Driver...oh well). It's not so much your average police thriller as it is a solid drama piece.
