Review of Serious Moonlight (2009) by James K — 14 Nov 2010
More suitable for stage performance, this movie is about Louise's adventure to win her husband's love back on the eve of his runaway with his much-younger mistress. The minimalist need for a proper setting and protracted monologue made the acting ever more important. I think Meg Ryan fits nicely into her arthouse role of Louise and she should keep her eyes on debutting onto the play stage instead of getting buried in low-budget movies.
The movie has a "twist" at the end and the overall flow of the story was smooth. But then again, as a movie the audience would expect more from the simplicity of the plot in fact a more complicated character interaction.
