I think many critics have been a little unfair to serial mom. The most common complaint is that it is not "edgy" enough, or just that it is trying to get too much milage out of one joke. But it's ok with me if it is not a laugh a minute all the way through.
It is still completely entertaining. It's a John Waters movie... That should be enough.
