Review of Serial Mom (1994) by Nicodemo R — 07 Jan 2019
The critics over a well patinated american society is well done and very well performed by Ms. Turner that actually made a big interpretation.
The direction of the other characters is also really nice and represent different sides of the main figure. That's the up (and it is a very nice up).
The problem, IMO, is in the script (and/or its act).
Ok is a grotesque black comedy, and a lot of things can be overlooked but this not justify everythings. Police is too stupid (is that a critic that I did not understood?) and come in overpower of man to arrest a woman that does nothing to hide or to escape; evidence in the court are completely forgotten (another critic?). Everyone drives like a stunt, c'mon this squeeze eyes to some "the blues brother" shoot, but it is not "The Blues Brother".
Ok, everything can be a big critic to the whole american facade and it's "loud and clear" but it leave me without an emotion and it did not grab me neither a smile.
I mean, at the end of the movie I was like at the beginning. It light me with any news about the american society and it shows what all (I think) already knows without a touch of emotion.
