Review of Sergeant York (1941) by Kevin N — 21 Feb 2009
Such a great script - and a true story! I love the lines they spoke, and all the manifestations of old-time work ethic and values. I was surprised by the level of realism in the battle scenes given the fact that it was made in 1940.
Gary Cooper's understated style was well-suited to play Alvin York. I was entertained and educated. Now I'm heading out to buy the DVD!
