Review of Serenity (2019) by Ray F — 25 Jan 2019
Don't skip this movie because of the bad reviews... I almost did. Richard Roper gave it a thumps up so I decided to take a chance. I really don't like movies where you leave the theater saying.
.. WTF WAS THAT ABOUT?? A lot of the negative reviews are saying the movie makes no sense. I went into the movie with low expectations expecting this to be some artsy non-nonsensical "film" like Neon Demon, Knight of Cups, or Cloud Atlas, all "films" critics seem to love.
... this film was not like that. If you pay attention it makes sense. It is complex and makes you think, but it does tell a cohesive story. I'm not saying it's epic or that you will love it. I just does not deserve 20% score.
.. I went it with really low expectations so was happy I enjoyed it and give it 4 stars, if I had went in with high expectations I might have given it a 3 or 3.5. The 1 and 1/2 reviews are a bit unfair in my opinion.
