Review of Serenity (2015) by Lauren R — 23 Jan 2012
The film "Serenity" is based on the Firefly television series that was a critical success but ultimately a commercial failure and short-lived. This fact aside, the series as well as this film creates a fun and wild trip into the cosmos with a humorous and varied crew.
The film is by no means original, and at the same time still conveys a good and interesting premise even without originality. The one-liners and cliches hinder it from being a better film but the overall flow is paced efficiently.
The film delivers in both humor and action paced interstellar travel and features a truly terrifying foe that are powerful and fearsome. The picture quality on the blu-ray fully captures the impressive CG effects and environments beautifully and accurately to the filmmakers intentions.
Overall this is by no means an original or even a great film by technical standards but makes for an entertaining viewing.
