Review of Serenity (2005) by Evelyn S — 19 Nov 2012
I don't think people who haven't seen Firefly can truly enjoy this movie. I literally tried to watch this twice and fell asleep both times. There was back story, yes, but it wasn't enough to inform an ordinary person like me.
Thankfully, I finally saw the TV series and then followed with Serenity. With the background knowledge in mind, I was convince this is one of the best space Sci-Fi I've ever seen. It transforms from television beautifully.
The special effects are not as good as mainstream movies -- after all, it was made from a TV series that never got a chance to live up to its full potential. However, the story was too daring and entertaining for us to care.
