Review of Serenity (2005) by Beth C — 13 Jan 2013
I saw the movie a few YEARS before I even knew there was the series, Firefly, it had been based on, and loved it from preview to finale. The story is original, the cast so refreshing, and the mechanism making the cogs turn (Joss Whedon) so beautifully designed that Serenity is a film that quite possibly founded a new genre all its own.
I did finally get to watch Firefly, and was so glad I did. It helped me understand that Serenity didn't have to stand alone. Firefly was the perfect platform on which Serenity could stand to receive its gold medal.
