Review of Serenity (2005) by Jack K — 18 Mar 2013
After finishing Joss Whedon's debut feature length film, I couldn't help but feel as though it would have been much better suited as a tv special. This film had all of the classic earmarks of a television film, most of which translate poorly to theaters.
The acting was alright and the plot quite interesting, but the cheese factor and the ridiculousness, intended or unintended, weighed this film down. Bottom line, as a stand alone movie, this film lands right in the middle of the entertaining films of it's era.
If not anything else, it's made me want to watch Firefly.
