Review of Serenity (2005) by Gordon O — 20 Jun 2013

Possibly my favourite movie of 2005. I'd never heard of the series. I went to the cinema on a weekday afternoon and having bought a ticket for a movie I walked straight into this one afterwards (old trick in multiplexes where they don't check your tickets once you've entered the cinema corridor). I had no expectations and from the outset was blown away by the confidence of the acting and direction, the power, humour and depth of the script and the immersiveness of the world. I wish all movies had several series of TV to train in if this is the result.

Sadly I've tried to turn others onto the film and the TV background seems to turn them off a little, other things do too, but I don't know what they are. Anyway, I think it's amazing and I now have the DVD.
