Review of Serendipity (2001) by January Faith E — 11 Jan 2011

This is a romcom that will probably rub a lot of people the wrong way due to the plethora of ridiculous coincidences and improbabilities that plague the story to support its idea of "fate", but if you can look past that and just roll with it then you'll find a pretty charming little film.

The lighthearted plot keeps the two leads (John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale) apart for 90% of the running time - which is pretty original and helps avoid many tired romcom cliches - and the decent secondary cast includes an amusing Eugene Levy and Jeremy Piven, who steals the show as Cusack's best friend/"1st wife".
