Review of Serendipity (2001) by Brett H — 16 Mar 2014
Fluffy, charming, and a little too convenient to be taken seriously, this romantic comedy survives due to the likability of it's cast and the wonders of fate. John Cusack is the go-to actor for any rom-com and he owned the podium for the genre for quite some time.
My issues with the film are forgivable if the movie didn't keep reminding me how damn implausible all these "chance" encounters and near-misses there were; it's New York City. As a whole though, it is briskly entertaining and doesn't over-stay it's welcome, which is all I can ask for in a light rom-com.
