Review of Séraphine (2008) by Martin D — 12 Mar 2009
Magnificent! A beautifully filmed and wonderfully acted biopic of an early 20th Century "primitive" painter who subsists as a house keeper/laundress, but is inspired/compelled to paint. The character is more than a bit "touched" and is most sympathetically played my Yolande Moreau.
It's a thrilling film -- French cinema at its best. Seen at Rendez-Vous With French Cinema, NYC, March 2009.
