Review of Seraphim Falls (2007) by Atta H — 11 Sep 2007
A western movie that takes place 3 years after the American Civil War. A story of revenge between a southerner and yankee that has apparently been going on and drawn out since the end of the war.
The entire movie is an overlong chase scene that takes you from different settings, changing seasons and various landscapes. The cinematography and beautiful scenery is an eyeful and keeps you captivated by the movement of these characters from setting to setting.
The plot is engrossing in that it keeps you guessing for most of the movie about the origins and intentions of the characters with commendable and believable performances by both Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan.
The movie tends to slow down half way and the chase scenes start becoming tedious and repetitive but nonetheless the imagery is still amazing.
This movie will definitely keep you intersted for the first half but afterwards it somewhat falters and slows down reaching a climax that is both satisfying and effective.
Worth a watch.
