Review of Seraphim Falls (2007) by Jayson Q — 14 Mar 2008
For this being Ancken's first movie, he does a pretty good job. The chase gets a little old after the initial stuff in the mountains. I think we'd be a lot more interested if he'd have chosen to reveal a little more of the backstory as the movie progresses.
As it is now, we get everything at once, and much too late. It makes it hard to care about Brosnan or Neeson if we know nothing about them for the majority of the movie. It does win points for the truely Hellish ending, though.
If you look at it as two men descending into Hell I think the whole movie improves.
