Review of Seraphim Falls (2007) by Christian M — 27 Jun 2008
Overall, an excellent selection. Brings to mind several films, most notably The Hunted, and O Brother Where Art Thou?. For his part Pierce Brosnan delivers a very convincing performance as a former Union Captain whose serene exterior is only broken by the obvious pain and suffering in his eyes.
Neeson is also excellent as his tireless pursuer. The end, while a bit spacy does have a point, in my opinion. I feel that the desolate salt flats visually display lives laid bare by war, hatred, loss, and misplaced blame.
Even in the end, however, we see that the movie correctly concludes that it is never to late for forgivness. In short this was an excellent little gem of a picture. Marvelous performances, efficient directing, and breathtaking visuals by the always brilliant John Toll (Braveheart, Legeds of the Fall) conspire to create a rewarding viewing experience.
