Review of Seraphim Falls (2007) by Matt P — 01 Feb 2010

This film had absolutely no structure. It started out slow to begin with and just built upon it's own unexplained mishaps. Pierce Brosnan played a guy whom, for some odd reason, likes sticking his hand into dead people, or his whole body into a freaking horse for that matter! Liam Neeson is an angry father who's house was burnt down in a non-epic almost laughable flashback with Pierce Brosnan poorly acting out his sympathy for the death of Neeson's family. Then Neeson wishes to kill Brosnan for this, who we were following in the beggining, but then-wait a minute? Now were folliwng Liam Neeson's story? Just who IS the main character? The deaths in this film are cheap and funny, and the roll of Anjelica Houston is anything BUT necessary.Her roll not only has no purpose but leaves you thinking, "Wow that was really stupid because she not only gave neither of the two characters help out in the desert, but contributed nothing to the appeal of audiences!".

The ending to this film was quite humorous. After eyeing each other in this hot baron wasteland the two go at it and collapse in a heap. Pathetic, really. And the worst part is, by the time the film has "finished" I'm left thinking, "Ok, so what the heck is Seraphim Falls stand for? The place where Liam Neeson's life oh-so- non-epic-ly took a turn for the worse?" At one part in the film Neeson whispers to Brosnan quite comically the title of the movie, in which I had to cringe at the expense of the line. Here we've got two great actors, in a crappy movie, with crappy rolls, reciting crappy lines! This movie was a complete waste of time to make and I couldn't help but try and watch it several times to try and find a meaning behind it all. But no. All I could do was laugh my a#% off.
