Review of Seraphim Falls (2007) by Justin O — 14 Feb 2010
Seraphim Falls is a story of pursuit. We follow Gideon (Brosnan) and Colonel Carver (Neeson) in winter forest landscapes to burning deserts.
This sentence sums up the film quite well: "the relentless pursuit takes them both far from the comforts and codes of civilization, into the bloodiest recesses of their own souls".
Needless to say that Seraphim Falls is centred on both of these protagonists, which allows them to play the hunter and the hunted very well. However, don't expect much more than the ok acting and the beautiful scenary. The pursuit lacks suspense and goes on an on.
Seraphim Falls isn't a bad film, it is just incredibly average and sleepy, unlike the survivor-like man vs wild I was expecting.
