Review of Seraphim Falls (2007) by Philip R — 11 May 2013
First Time director David Von Ancken, who directed episodes for such TV shows like Without a Trace, CSI: NY, and Californication, wrote and directed a very interesting western set five years after the Civil War about a former Confederate Colonel name Carver (Liam Neeson) who, along with his hired posse, hunt down a resourceful and knife skilled ex-Union Officer name Gideon (Pierce Brosnan) through the snowy mountains of the American West with whom he has a grudge against.
Who would have thought that Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson, two Irish actors and both big admirers of the Western movie genre, acting together in an American Movie Western? I didn't. They led a very good cast of actors such as Michael Wincott (The Crow), Angie Harmon (TV's Law and Order), Wes Studi (The Last of the Mohicans), Ed Lauter (The Longest Yard), Tom Noonan (Last Action Hero), Kevin J.
O' Connor (The Mummy), Xander Berkeley (Air Force One), and Anjelica Huston (The Addams Family 1 & 2). The setting of this movie from Taos, New Mexico and Oregon was beautiful to watch because this whole movie was shot outdoors and never on a movie studio stage.
Anyway, SERAPHIM FALLS is an okay movie to watch, If you like westerns.
