Review of September Dawn (2007) by Ricardo H — 10 Feb 2008
IT HURTS TO BELIEVE...
That something like this actually happened. The movie itself is very well done, good script, good acting, good directing and good dialogue. As to the facts the movie is based on, even if remotely true, they are one of those black marks in American history and specially in the history of the Mormon Church. They can deny all they want that Brigham Young "knew" or "was involved" with the events, but it is highly unlikely that a coordinated group effort to form a killing squad would be taken without his approval or consent.
I wish I could recommend this movie, but I can't. It is too painful to think that even a small part of it is actually true.
