Review of September (2007) by Nadeem M — 10 Mar 2008
Not a particularly fast-paced film, but it never becomes boring, due to its interesting subject matter: two teenagers, one of them aboriginal, find their friendship tested when the difference in their backgrounds comes to a head after a law is introduced to ensure aboriginal workers receive a wage.
Set in 1968, this is a thought-provoking study of how things were when separatism was still rife, although it is never done in a hard-hitting way.
