Review of Sense and Sensibility (1995) by Greg R — 02 Feb 2011
Propriety and all those emotions just sneaking out from beneath - more often than not, despair - that is where the perfect mix of comedy and tragidy comes from in this wonderfully told tale.
The world that Jane Austin creates is quite amazing because it really feels like it is being looked at with the perfect clarity of modern day hindsight - the obsurdity of it all. And on top of that there's the strange, though strangley perfect addition that Ang Lee should have such a perfect grasp of the material.
Sweet, funny, touching and beautiful to look at - the best of it's particular kind.
