Review of Sense and Sensibility (1995) by Uditha D — 17 Dec 2011
Morbid and nearly slow in its pace, Sense and Sensibility was a fine adaptation of the original Austen novel. I found it to be especially successful in its casting. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet were awesome as the Dashwood sisters, and the rest - including Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman and Greg Wise - were superb as well.
Overall, this is one of the finest novel-to-movie adaptations I've seen, and what was key in it - the pace - was exceptionally matching with the novel: never too fast, never too slow, but always cleverly mixed in order to convey the suddenness of everything.
It made up quite a good viewing experience.
