Review of Senna (2010) by Lorenzo D — 10 Apr 2012
To clear my position at first, I am not a fan of F1 racing and never saw a single race to its end. I came to know about Senna, most probably through some magazines, about a decade ago when I was in school and was interested to know about the racing icon who lost his life in race. Coming back to present, I was thrilled to know that there's a movie made on his racing career and finally I managed to watch it.
Senna is not about racing, it's about finding peace and tranquility. There are certain people in our world who are magicians, who transcends and beautifully blur the so called barrier between possible and impossible with their genius. We mere mortals just watch with our bewildered eyes and try to fit all these in our limited capability of logical and philosophical explanation of the events. Senna was a devout christian and he did not allow a single event to shake his faiths. As an atheist myself, I do not find it troubling but rather a path to calm and composure which lifts the soul of a person. The passion, the intensity and the emotion that were intertwined with Senna's racing are perhaps one of the greatest ways a man identify himself with his work. Winning three world championships and numerous grand prix in pole positions are just its humble signs, as I told before, Senna is not about racing.
