Review of Semi-Pro (2008) by President P — 19 Jun 2013

Not the funniest film Ferrell has ever put his name on, but nevertheless still has some good jokes and scenes. Semi-Pro tells the story of a minor league basketball team attempting to make into the NBA, with plenty of idiotic story arcs playing out.

The jokes can be good, but sadly the majority of the film isn't all that funny. The acting is surprisingly great and makes up for the lack of comedy, but only so little. The writing and direction is really nothing special and pretty forgettable.

Semi-Pro isn't great nor bad, it's a middle of the road comedy. If you're up for a comedy, give it a go, it has its ups and downs, but manages to be fairly enjoyable.
