Review of Selma (2014) by Devo-Nc — 09 Jan 2015
If this movie wins an oscar I'm going to puke and wipe it all over my television and then take a dump on my movie collection, 2014 has been a uniquely terrific year for cinema. Most of the movies that are contenders most of us have seen, then there is Selma.
A pretentious sermon about racism, really what made 12 Years A Slave good was the last 30 minutes, the rest of it was quite boring, Selma was boring but didn't have a good 30 minutes whatsoever. I know the story and moving emotion of it is something that I cannot deny in the quality of this film, but going back to Django, that was a great racially focussed American classic because it had a good time telling it's story, 12 Years A Slave was powerful but very forgettable, Selma is just another blob of hollywood's wanky splendour, I left 30 minutes in and I'm still recovering 4 days later, please don't see this.
