Review of Selma (2014) by Nicolette H — 16 Feb 2015
As I have said many times, I love movies based on history, true life stories. This was great. Not focusing on more of the known stories of the Civilian Rights movement or even on King's assassination.
This moment focuses on what went on in Selma Alabama, which I must admit I wasn't too familiar with and didn't really know what went on there. I thought this film told that story very well. Such a amazing film.
I thought David Oyelowo made a perfect Martin Luther King. Just wow! Even Carmen Ejogo was great as Coretta Scott King. The cast was all good and there were actors that I had no idea were in this. There are some things I didn't like, like the portrayal of Johnson when from what I learned he was one of the allies during this movement.
Still was a very powerful film that I think should be seen. :).
