Review of Selma (2014) by Neil R — 02 Mar 2015
Worthy and at times compelling with some great crowd scenes and a believable central performance from David Oyelowo, but just a little ponderous. The characters sometimes felt like vehicles for ideas rather than real people, even in though King's feet of clay were hinted at.
People got annoyed with all the non-Egyptian actors in Exodus: Gods and Kings, but nobody has quibbled at the fact that FOUR of the major characters in this are British. Definitely worth watching, but not as good as it could have been.
