Review of Selma (2014) by Nathan H — 24 May 2015
I hope that this film is historically accurate, because there are many things in it that I did not know, which is what made it so interesting. I really loved that it delved into the inner-workings of the Civil Rights Movement as they planned and strategized.
It really gives in-depth look into the world of grass roots politics and how to work the system from the outside in. Sure they focused on a bit too many characters and it would definitely been helped if it had just been streamlined to deal with the person we are most interested in, but it does not completely destroy the movie.
It might not have been the most innovative film ever made, but some times it is simply enough to tell a good story well.
