Review of Selma (2014) by Matt A — 28 Apr 2016
I know it's kind of a big no-no to give this movie a bad review, but this isn't a review of the events that took place at Selma; this is a review of the filmmaking. The editing of the film was painful, particularly the pacing, The film seems to drag its feet rather than march proudly.
The story suffered from being extremely partisan, doing no service to the people it is meant to honor. Proper research and portrayal will only empower heroism and magnify courage. A movie truly meant to honor these men and women would not be afraid to write true portrayals and let the heroes stand even taller.
