Review of Self/less (2015) by Ricky G — 16 Jul 2015
As I saw the previews for Self/Less I was really really looking forward to seeing this movie Ben Kingsley turning into Ryan Reynolds to live the life he deserves after working his whole life to build New York.
Ben Kingsley has cancer and is offered a chance to live in a fresh new body with no problems but he would have to give up everything (besides his money) and live life as a young Ryan Reynolds. I was really digging this movie in the beginning but when he switched to Reynolds things started to get choppy.
Everything started to become rushed after he was released into the world. You wanted to see him live life and see what somebody fifty (plus) years old would do if they had money and everything he wanted but sadly we get about five minutes of that then we get into this story of finding out what is really going on with this program that they are using.
The acting from Reynolds is strong and he tries to carry it as much as he can but man Natalie Martinez just kills the mood in this movie there could be an intense moment that comes on and her acting kills the mood, so unbelievable.
You think this movie would be full of action, twists, and a fun time but no not really. It wasn't horrible it felt like a very low budget 90's sci-fi film. Except for a lot of those are better than this movie.
