Review of Selena (1997) by Guido S — 02 Mar 2014
The story of a young pop star who was murdered right as her career was about to take off. Jennifer Lopez is pretty decent as Selena, even if her singing career is no where near as good. Edward James Olmos is the father who helps get her started and be her manager of sorts.
Felt this was more of a recreation of various concerts and mostly a musical with a razor thin plot. It never really gets into who Selena is other than she did a bunch of concerts. Compared to the far superior La Bamba, this felt like a cheap cash in.
