Review of Selena (1997) by Zachary M — 12 Apr 2016
Having your bio pic come out very soon after your subject has died, is a bit strange. Normally these kind of films wait a decade or so before coming out, this one took less than half that time. Not only that, but having a current pop singer portray this beloved icon big gamble. You risk anger and alienating her fan base. You know, the people you're hoping will come see it.
Well, I for one think that they pulled it off rather well. Jennifer Lopez really displays a good range in emotions and, in my opinion, does the late Selena justice. Good on you Miss Lopez.
