Review of Seeking Justice (2011) by Mike C — 02 Sep 2012
Not the most original movie in the thriller genre, but pretty good none the less. This movie is powered by three main performances:
Nick Cage: this is one of his better recent movies. He is a great actor when he chooses good scripts. And he chose a pretty decent one here. He isn't the badass he was on Drive Angry or Con Air, but he isnt supposed to be. He is an everyman, trying to get the justice needed and then being stuck in a crappy and reasonably realistic situation.
Guy Pearce: this guy is amazing. He is a complete dirtbag, but his performance is gripping. He is scary, serious and he gets things done. Guy Pearce does well as a villain, in this movie he was just as fantastic as in Lawless.
January Jones: im not normally a fan of Jones, but she actually surprised me in this movie. She was actually quite convincing and not monotone as she usually is. Definitely her best performance.
Only con I have with this movie is the originality, especially with the ending. Thats it though.
This is a great movie that throws more and more obstacles at the hero, if you love thrillers you will LOVE this. Check it out, its criminally underrated.
