Review of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) by Lindsay W — 02 Feb 2013
An intriguingly macabre opening premise, the film starts off promisingly as a window into some amusing anecdotal reactions to the End of Days. Like all Focus Features productions, the film is heavy on character development and the visual style is stellar.
Carell and Knightley are at times engrossing and, in the far too rare comedic moments between them, truly shine. But at the end of the day it all boils down to a fairly trite romance story that not even these two top notch actors could make me buy into.
