Upon reflection I have grown to love this film. Sad to see it has such a mixed reaction from audiences and critics alike as I think its all kinds of great. Sure, it occasionally lacks direction and hits patches where the plot is muddied, but overall, its one of the more likeable Knightley performances and Carell is at his typical brilliance.
The closing act of the film is also pretty bloody sublime, with a bitter sweet ending that really had an impact.
