Seeking a Friend is an enjoyable film but not so much a realistic one. The chemistry between Carell and Knightley seems a little off, albeit cute and with charming characters, the chemistry is key to its cinematic hopes.

Dodge is a depressed middle aged man who has had everything going wrong in his life recently - that is, until he meets the cute girl a floor down from his apartment, Penny. Penny and Dodge go on a fun road trip to help both of them go home and achieve their wishes before an incoming asteroid hits the earth.

Carell does an insanely good portrayal as his character, as does Knightley, but the chemistry between the two seems off. It's a mix between typical modern rom/com and buddy comedy, the buddy comedy aspect works a little better but can be a bit misleading. The story is a little stale after a while and the apocalyptic setting feels unneeded, it adds nothing to the real story, it's just an addition to match in with the title. It's fun and Carell dominates the film's likability, but it doesn't work out in the end in what it really needs to achieve.
