This scenario has the potential for so much more. There is definitely some great jokes between Carrell and Knightley, but all in all, there's really nothing interesting about this in how it plays out.
It's sweet, but overwhelmingly dull. There are so many hints for a darker and more buried backstory from Carrell's character, but by its conclusion this is revealed to be all for not.
