Review of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) by Justin A — 29 Aug 2015
Disjointed. It tried too hard to be funny for the first half, and it becomes almost surprising how heartbreaking the second half becomes. Looking at this movie as a whole, I don't really understand what the point of the skit-like comedy they were going for with the first half of the movie. It could have used a bit more character moments instead of comedy that would have felt more fitting for a SNL movie. The moments with romance and confronting past demons comes almost completely out of nowhere.
Still, like Keira Knightley's character, I'm a romantic. And the sappy ending really got to me. I didn't much care for the movie beyond the actual end of the world part.
