The genre of the "end-of-the-world" has been used plenty of times, in movies where the imminent end is miraculously stopped, or the end happens like a disaster movie. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is an original, tensely acted and realistic portrayal of real emotions that Carell and Knightley carry on their shoulders brilliantly.
The rest of the cast are not as good, conveying more wooden abilities than a wooden door. Overall, SAFFTEOTW is tender, charming, well-acted and the script is wonderful. The end scene is heart-warmingly brilliant, mixing complete and utter sadness with a helping of euphoric love.
