Seeking a Freind for the End of the World is a sweet and distinctly melancholy romantic comedy. It's not for the faint of heart however. If you require a happy ending out of your movie watching experience beware that Deus Ex Machina was broken that day and the movie's better for it.

In fact, many of the suffocating tropes of both rom-com's and apocalypse movies are avoided. You won't find characters making a series of impossibly stupid decisions for the sake of generating conflict. You won't find sociopathic behaviors being romanticized like so many romantic comedies. What you will find is an intriguing story of two people getting to know each other and the kind of self-lessness required for real world relationships.
